Live albums are often disappointing, but that's not the case with Live in Japan. Blues legend B.B. King was at the height of his popularity at the time of this 1971 performance. "The Thrill Is Gone" had been a smash hit the previous year, and his albums Completely Well, Indianola Mississippi Seeds, and Live in Cook County had sold extremely well. This live set was recorded with the same crack band that played on Cook County, and the performance overflows with a palpable exuberance.

The interplay between King and his backing players is wildly energetic and often spontaneous. As always, King's trademark fretboard chops and soulful phrasing are outstanding, and his singing on such gems as "How Blue Can You Get," "Hummingbird," and, of course, "The Thrill Is Gone" seems especially heartfelt. A dynamite shot of classic blues and a top-notch live set.

Still Sealed/New: Never opened...still in original shrinkwrap and brand new....any tears in the shrinkwrap will be noted in description.

NM:  Likely played once or twice, no issues detected during play grading, Tape plays as new. The box will be virtually flawless, slightest signs of wear or discoloration no seam splits or split corners.

VG++:The tape may have some light wrinkleing or edge wear at the beginning of the tape but not on the recorded portion of the tape.  The box will have tight corners will show some light shelf wear and may have a seam split just starting 

VG+: The tape will play with no obvious issues from beginning to end but may have short lead in and slight waviness to areas of the tape. Still a very desirable grade.. The box may have one or two split corners, some shelf wear and a seam split or two. Art work is bright and the box is clean.

VG: Tape will play with an occasional pop or barely noticeable drop out and may have a splice that is not too noticeable. tape may have waviness or edgewear but still plays well and is not too distracting. The Box will have shelf wear discolouration some seam splits and corner splits and some writing, may have been repaired or needing repair.

VG-: Not terrible, usually represents 1 or 2 splices might be a little sketchy in a few spots, other than that would fair as a VG tape. The Box may be mashed discolored will show significant wear seam splits and corner splits (still should be able to be taped up for repair), some writing and/or stickers, edge and corner wear, or other similar defects.
