 First thing I want to say is that this LP is something SPECIAL - it's condition, sound and the Bob Dylan art on its Gate-fold packaging. Second thing - I believe in PLAY TESTING LP's - I mean you ARE going to play this item, aren't you? Some sellers just use words to grade the vinyl while not disclosing PICTURES of the actual vinyl and thus have no idea how it SOUNDS. If the vinyl is in MINT condition to the eye but sounds like crap where does that leave the listener? I do more than merely a Visible Grading. I play test the vinyl, and in this case I was very impressed as were the others in the room that watched as it spun on my Technics Diamond Head player. Thirdly, I include many pictures of the album I am selling - this gives the viewer more information than words can ever do - they then can see what they are getting - and in this case you won't be disappointed. I also add ZOOM features so that you can see the beautiful condition UP CLOSE - some sellers like to hide flaws by disallowing this feature and also by not providing pictures of the WHOLE vinyl, not just the labels. Having worked in a music store for some 5 years I have seen many LP's all my life and still play them daily and can tell when one is in impressive condition visibly and audibly. I'm listening to this LP now and the mix of that simple harmonica and gentle tamborine sounds mix beautifully with the outdoorsy voice supported by a neighborly chorus just gets under your skin like no other music. You will hear a classic you had forgotten was on this LP and other delights.

Legend has it that, after hearing this beautifully poetic masterpiece of simple elegance and elegant simplicity, Eric Clapton decided to give up on his heavy electric blues, Cream- style, altogether , and never look back. Indeed, after 1969 we find him singing and playing southern soul, reggae, pop, disco, hard rock , electro-pop, blues revival and whatnot, but we no longer get to hear him play 9-minute guitar solos. The impact that this, Band’s first album, exerted on Rock world surely cannot be overestimated. It proved to the world at large that Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters, Ronnie Hawkins and John Hammond,jr. were not crazy when they opted to be backed by THE Band. Both songwriting and musical execution are exquisite; the album contains some of the best - and most memorable - Rock songs ever written and played, and represents one of top-20 best albums of all times.   I play-graded this album and have to give it very high marks, dare I say NEAR MINT I also viewed it in natural and diffuse lighting and also give it very high marks. I provided MANY pictures that other sellers refuse to provide, so that you, the BUYER,  can be the judge on its astonishing condition and KNOW what you are getting.

 (a)          Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. I have to say its condition is Excellent, if not NEAR MINT. But I provided many pics so the buyer can see for himself or herself and make their own decisions. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new, as the many pictures reveal, especially when using the ZOOM feature which many sellers refuse to use in an effort to hide from interested parties apparent flaws.

 (b)          The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

 (c)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++). 

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:  

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant)  

-         Cover shows some slight yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging. 

-         Cover has faint writing of "ED" twice on cover - you can barely see it in the listed pics. But no writing elsewhere. (No price codes written anywhere as in other copies) 

-         Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant). No Creases in the cover cardboard as in other copies I see for sale. 

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER as seen by my naked eyes: 

-        No split seams

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.
