Description
This is a VG+ copy of B.B. King's 1971 Live In Cook County Jail. It is in amazing condition, no sibilance, quiet surfaces, flat as a pancake, and flawless playback. Lucille sings like an angel, all instruments are separated with the piano stage right and the horn section on the left, with B.B. right in the middle with the rythym section. This is an album that is just fun to listen to all the way through. From the crowd's raucous reaction during the introductions, all the way through the storytelling of How Blue Can You Get and Worry, Worry, Worry on side one, B.B. warms the crowd up as exuberant shouts throughout the audience make it feel like you are there. Side two opens with the King asking the crowd's permission to take a trip down memory lane. They joyously agree to this, and he launches into an inspired medley of 3'O'Clock Blues/Darlin' You Know that will give you goosebumps. Perenial favorite The Thrill Is Gone sounds fresh and raw, even though they it is already iconic at the time of this recording.
Album cleaned on a VPI 16.5, stored in inner archival sleeves.
Playback was always using either a Sumiko BPS or Audio Technica VM740ML.
