Aztecs Live LP 1971 Billy Thorpe Australian NZ hard rock Havoc gatefold EX
Original New Zealand pressing on Havoc in gatefold “envelope” style sleeve.
Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs were an Australian pop and rock group dating from the mid-1960s. The group enjoyed success in the mid-1960s, but split in 1967. They re-emerged in the early 1970s to become one of the most popular Australian hard-rock bands of the period. Thorpe died from a heart attack in Sydney on 28 February 2007.
On Sunday June 13 1971, with the Aztecs, Chain, Daddy Cool, Wild Cherries, La De Da’s, Healing Force and Lotus lined-up for a concert at the Melbourne Town Hall... the Aztecs decided to record their set for a live LP and TV special.
Aztecs Live (also known as Live At Melbourne Town Hall) captures the band on the brink of becoming the biggest band in Australia , and a rare document of the Thorpe, Matthews, Morgan and Wheeler line-up.
