TAS List

Long out of print.

HP put this Chesky reissue (not the original Decca) on the TAS list.

The London /Deccas and Emi's were somewhat overlooked in this country. They didn't have the promotion or distribution of RCA and Mercury.

They don't have the same cache' to todays collectors as the Shaded Dogs, but did you know there about six times as many EMI's and six times as many Decca/Londons on the TAS List?

I love Rachmaninoff and in this recording his Romantic sound is just gorgeous.

I've compared the Chesky to the original, and HP is right. The Chesky is better in every way. Way better bass, more extended and crystalline highs, no doubt due to Tim deParavini's tubed mastering.

This one is rare. I've not seen it elsewhere.

So, instead of paying $$ or the original you get better for a lot less.

....................................................................

Hello, I'm a retired recording engineer selling a lifetime collection of Audiophile recordings.

I had access to great Ampex recorders and most of my new recordings were played a few times on a Rockport table / arm / Grasshopper cartridge combo and then taped.

My ratings are conservative.

To be conservative I will this one at Mint-.  No sign of play.  IMHO no record which has been played can be called mint.

The cover is mint-, some age discoloration
