Description

A Rare Treasure for Audiophile Collectors*

Mark Levinson Acoustic Recording Series

Volumes # 1(one disk set) & # 4 (2 disk set) to be sold as one lot.

* The verbatim quote below of notes on the jacket tells of its rarity and preciousness:

“This record was produced without compromise.  Mark Levinson Audio systems built special equipment for use with calibration microphones and high speed wide track tape format to create virtually noiseless, ultra low distortion master tapes, without noise reduction systems.

Robert Ludwig mastered the records by feeding the original tape through a custom mixer directly into the cutting amplifier rack, with no filtering, limiting or other added effects.

CIDIS, manufacturer of Phillips and DGG records in France developed special pressing techniques to produce the most quiet record surfaces possible with today’s material and technology, and the skill of their chiefs of staff.

Producing records in this manner may not be practical by conventional industry standards, as it requires a great deal of time and patience.  Achieving no compromise quality means sacrificing convenience and cost effectiveness, in favour of what we know to be the best possible way.”

“Note:

1)     This record must be reproduced through high quality play back equipment in order to give you satisfaction you expect.  In particular, be sure to use a phono-cartridge which is in good condition.  Otherwise the disc may be damaged after one play.

2)     This record reproduces clearly the sound of the concert hall, the “air” or “space” around the music itself.  Natural sound is brought out by playback at a volume level that corresponds to the spatial reality of the music.  Taking care to find this level adds to the realism of the sound you hear in you room.

For the acoustic Recording Series, musicians were asked to prepare programs which could be released without splicing passages.  In this way, the coherency and immediacy of the musical event, rather than the note-by-note perfection of the spliced tape, are preserved.”

Notes on shipping costs.

Vol. 1 weighs 235 g. and Vol. 2, 475 g.  The total weight of two sets with packing needs to be kept within the 1.0 kg. range to avoid a quantum jump in postage.    It would therefore be packed in a 14x14x1 inch bubble envelope reinforced by cardboard sheets without further protection on which the following shipping cost is based.

( If a box - 14x14x4 in. is the next available box size, the dimensions of the album are too large to allow these to be shipped in a standard LP shipping box - were used for shipping, the total weight would fall in the range of 1.0-2.0 kg., and the corresponding shipping cost would be increased to the following values:

To USA                    Air parcel, no tracking            US$ 26.00

To Canada               Regular parcel, no tracking     US$ 19.00

To Internationl        Air parcel, no tracking             US$ 52.00

Pl. contact the sell if you want to use this method )

All shipping (unless otherwise instructed by buyer) done by Canada Post, packed in a 14x14x1 inch bubble envelope/mailer reinforced by cardboard sheets.

Packing material cost and appropriate GST included.

I am a private individual, do not run music business, and therefore do not have facilities available to professionals.
