Description

Hello vinyl junkies, I’m knee deep (elbow deep?) in grease and rusty or missing parts while restoring a classic car (and have another waiting in the wings if I EVER finish the current one) so I'll be slowly selling off the bulk of my record collection to finance these projects… therefore I'll be continuing to list hundreds of LPs over the next few months, so please keep checking back

Anyway, let's continue with this one by Vincent Lopez Conducts Music Out Of Century 21 released by Worlds Fair Records in 1962. (2222LP Space Sonic Sound Stereo) Music written by Toni Mineo and arranged by Attilio Mineo - An Official Souvenir Album Of The Seattle World's Fair. Attilio Mineo is the man behind the other Seattle World's Fair LP "Man In Space With Sounds"

If you are reading this listing, you probably know how rare this space age gem is - there is one another copy listed on ebay by a different seller at $150 but it now.  Don't miss your opportunity to bid on an affordable copy!

From the liner notes:

To illustrate the musically futuristic theme of its 1962 World's Wair, Seattle has chosen Vincent Lopez as the Maestro with a fabulous past and understanding of the fantastic future! The Lopez music is as modern as the New York Skyline. Lopez has appeared with his orchestra at the Taft Hotel Grill Room for the past 21 years and is a keen student of the Space Age future.

Strangly enough, his occult understanding of the centuries ahead derives from his study of the past, for lopez has read everything written about the lost continent of Atlantis, from the writings of Plato and Pliny down to modern archaeological discoveries that prove the existence of an unbeleivably advanced civilization in ancient times. Lopez thinks much of our present-day science was known in Atlantis and that centuries ahead will rediscover and reinvent further marvels of the Atlantean past.

Despite a firm scientific basis for his opinion, the idea has launched Lopez into a study of the supernatural and the occult. This is reflected in many of the selections his augmentedorchestra plays in "Music Out Of Century 21"."  The coming Space Age will no doubt put us in physical touch with distant spheres, some decades hence, but the Lopez Music of this album gives us a mataphysical connection right now! The imaginative use of strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion instruments projects the listener beyond the barriers of time and suggests the fantastic world of the future when conventional concepts of time and space will merge into a timeless universe.

This is music best enjoyed by the imaginative person who can be swept along on its magic carpet, who welcomes the chance to expand his limited ination can do with such titles as "A Touch Of Venus" Jupiter's Bolero" "Swinging Planets" "Saturn In Satin" "Mars Goes Latin" "Waltz Of The Galaxies"  "Among The Stars With Lopez"  and others that take right off from Mother Earth and explore the Universe!  However, in this conquest of space, this exploration of the future, the Lopez music maintains the one emotion guaranteed never to alter or change in time - the mood of lush romance...the dreams and hopes and nuances of love!

For Variety, for the change of pace that maintains interest, numbers like "Monorail Hop" reflects the zest, enthusiasm, and outright fun of the Seattle World's Fair. Years from now, a replay of the album will bring back pleasant memories of the Fair itself with all the speed and enjoyment of the famous Monorail Ride. This Swedish Alweg Monorail will give the world its first look at a full scale operation of a high-speed mass transportation system of the future. And if you don't have a chance to visit the Fair, "Music Out of Century 21" will create its fabulous, futuristic mood for you in a moment!

Professionally, the album is a merger of musical talent from both coasts of our nation. The selections were written by Mrs. Toni Mineo of Tacoma, Washington, and arranged by her husband, Art Mineo, who brought it to the attention of the Seattle World's Fair officials.

For the right interpritation of its space age theme they selected Vincent Lopez, with his special musical flair, as the Maestro most capable, from the standpoint of musical talent and his life-long in things still undiscovered in the universe.  In short, you will find "Music Out of Century 21" truly out of this world!

Tracks on this LP are:

  1. Love In The Needle's eye
  2. Monorail Hop
  3. A Touch of Venus
  4. Among The Stars With Lopez
  5. Jupiter's Bolero
  6. Swingin' Planets
  7. Pluto's Dance
  8. Saturn In Satin
  9. Stairway To The Milkyway
  10. Celestial Holiday
  11. Waltz Of The Galaxies
  12. Mars Goes Latin

LP is only in good condition. LP has several scuffs and light marks that cause an occasional pop, click or bit of surface noise when played There are also two scratches on side two that cause some loud pops, but the record does play through without any skips. Overall the listening experience is nice and the surface noise was not too distracting (I just played both sides of the album)

The cover has no seam splits, writing, cut out marks, rips, tears or other flaws. Cover is in beautiful condition!

I grade on a stricter scale than Goldmine! (or at least the watered down version that seems to exist here on eBay). I'll take the time to describe any flaws rather that give a letter grade that means something different to seemingly every record seller and buyer... I've received too many LPs graded by sellers VG++ or NM that were pretty beat up, and I'm willing to bet it's happened to your too!

As with everything I sell, if you are not happy with the condition on this one feel free to return it for a full refund, including shipping costs that you paid and the shipping cost to return it to me.  All I ask is that if you are not satisfied please send the record back to me within 10 days, in the same condition it was when you received it.  Give the record a few spins on your turntable and see how it sounds on your equipment. If returning the album, you can use the same box and packing materials that it came in.

I do also have a monophonic copy of this one that is autographed by Art Mineo, and the album is in much better condition. If someone out there would prefer that copy, send me an offer and if I accept I will list that copy on eBay for you as a "Buy It Now" - Sorry, no sales outside of eBay will be considered - this is for both our protection. Again, this auction is only for the Stereo copy listed above and DOES NOT include the autographed mono version.

Sorry if the cover looks washed out in the photo below…this is caused by a reflection from the camera flash… the colors are brighter and bolder in person.

If this LP caught your eye, please check my other auctions over the next few months for several other albums including space age pop, lounge, bachelor pad, exotica and weird & strange recordings and more. I will combine shipping on multiple purchases.

Please feel free to e-mail with any questions.

The Fine Print:

Ebay has recently changed it's payment regulations making it against the rules for sellers to accept any form of mailed payment. From now on, Paypal is the only payment method I am able accept. I am sorry, but this is eBay's policy - not by my choice.

Payment is due within seven days after end of auction. Priority mail in the United States is calculated by zip code. Please e-mail for a quote or I will send an invoice after end of auction. Priority rates range between $4.80 to $8.75 for one LP. I do not charge any "shipping" or "handling" fees... you pay what the post office charges me.

I can ship by domestic media mail for $3.50 but please keep in mind that while media mail is the cheapest shipping route it is also the slowest. Media mail can take up to one month or MORE to arrive. If you choose media mail please e-mail me before making a payment to let me know that you understand the delays involved with media mail. Delivery confirmation is included (and required) on Media Mail packages.

Insurance is available for an additional $1.70 as I cannot be responsible for any package that is lost or damaged after it has been shipped.

Overseas shipping is by Air Mail Only (surface mail is not available!) Shipping for one LP to Canada is $7.00, Mexico is $11.00. Anywhere else in the world is $14.00. Sorry, I no longer ship to Italy due to the high number of "LOST" packages. Overseas shipping is by regular air mail and can take anywhere from one and four weeks to arrive.

I usually ship within 48 hours of receiving Payment.

I do offer a money back guarantee if you are not pleased with your purchase. I don’t do this for a living, it is supposed to be a fun hobby, so If there is a problem at any point during the transaction, please let me know so we can work out a solution!

Thanks for looking and good luck!
