Originally released on the Holyground label in 1971, this official reissue in the original Mono came out in 1989, again on Holyground in association with Magic Mixture, Hugo Chavez’s legendary record emporium hidden away in Balham Market, which is where I bought it new. (He still trades online). I remember his enthusiasm at bringing the Holyground albums back when they were virtually unobtainable to ordinary mortals (no internet back then!).
The music is great – the 13 minute ‘Someday’ sounds like the Beatles gone prog. (It was long thought that Astral Navigations was the name of the band but in fact it’s a split LP between two bands: Lightyears Away & Thundermother).
This issue is effectively as new: black paper sleeve, cover, 2 inserts, booklet and vinyl all unmarked. It’s numbered 036/450 and signed by Mike Levon and Dave Wood, the label’s founders.
Another one I’d rather keep than let go cheap.
