Description

This record has been cleaned and play-tested.

When a friend asked me to sell this for him, I was apprehensive. I am aware how much copies sell for. Visually there is a nasty looking scuff mark on side 1. and I was not optimistic about actually playing it. I cleaned it in knosti disco-antistat and was amazed that it played so well. I still cannot believe that the scuff marks do NOT interfere with the sound quality. There are two quite separate little skips at the beginning of track 1. side 1. but the record plays through on my equipment without any problem and I was not "annoyed" with the (mini) skips. Side 2 looks good and plays very well indeed. So, I am in a bit of a dilemma about how to grade it. Side 1. visually not so good but it plays at least very good if not excellent even - but the skips have to be taken into account. Side 2. plays very good if not excellent. Both sides have some (minor) surface marks. The spindle shows previous owner(s) enjoyed playing it! Produced by Guy Stevens, supervised by Chris Blackwell.

I am confident it is the 1967 first issue. Island Mono ILP-967 A/B (as on matrix). Pink label and orange logo, laminated sleeve.

My guess is the plain white/cream inner is the original. I was tempted to replace it but left it as it is..ok. The ( Hapshash & the Coloured Coat and CCS Advertising Associates Ltd.) sleeve is excellent if a little allowance can be made for natural 1967 ageing.

Given sums that might be involved, do not hesitate to ask questions. I want to be completely and especially up-front about this sale. You can be gauranteed of a good listening and there is a 7 day money back guarantee if you think this record was described wrongly.

Additional information. (Sunday). In response to a number of questions: I have played both sides again. Side B is fine. Side A still has the (mini) skip(s) at the very start of track 1 but it plays perfectly well after that. The scuffs do NOT affect sound quality at all. I did also notice it is a bit crackly between tracks. I hope that helps.
