Art Garfunkel first achieved legendary status as half of the definitive folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, celebrated for his pristine, soaring tenor vocals on global harmony classics. Launching his solo career following their split, he cultivated a sophisticated, soft-rock aesthetic built on lush orchestral arrangements and carefully chosen covers.
Released in 1975 on Columbia Records, his second solo studio album, Breakaway, was primarily produced by Richard Perry and featured an elite roster of session players and guest vocalists. The record is famously highlighted by the much-anticipated, temporary studio reunion with Paul Simon on the track "My Little Town," which also landed on Simon's solo LP that same year.
