Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers Moanin' Blue Note 4003
Blue Note 4003 Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers Mono pressing with etched RVG and ear symbol. Both sides have the deep groove and 47 West 63rd NYC address. Beautiful condition vinyl- both sides bright and shiny with a couple of tiny marks that do not affect the performance. Trademark symbol present on both label sides. Side 2 label clean and bright. Side 1 is a rare relabel with light staining from the glue used to adhere the top label. The blue printed and shaded areas are of a lighter blue than the Side 2 label. The label underneath is visible by about 1/16"-1/32" along the top area above "33 1/3 MICROGROOVE" because of the top label not matching up perfectly. It is also visible in a few areas where the top layer has been partially torn. This was either done by accident, inserting the record into the inner sleeve, or intentionally to see what was printed underneath. Now that the glue is beginning to fail the label can be partially lifted at what would be the bottom of the top label. This happens to be the top of the bottom label. The label underneath appears to be spotless and I'm sure the new owner could successfully peel off the top one if desired, though that would be a crime. I'm not sure why this was relabeled, but my theory is that the label underneath does not have a trademark symbol below the E. All of the previously mentioned label "defects" have been photographed and buyers should refer to those pictures for visual reference.
Vinyl, side1-
Vinyl, side2- Both sides strong Vg+/Exc., bright and shiny with a tiny inaudible mark or two on each side. Plays through beautifully.
Both sides play very nicely. Overall, this is an awesome copy of a Blakey classic!
Cover- VG+, slight edge wear and a couple of small tears on the front of the opening side. Please see pictures for specifics.
Inner sleeve- N/A-
I grade accurate and conservatively, but even the cleanest of vinyl can have slight surface noise in areas. Therefore, I will play grade any particular passage or side, per request.
All vinyl has been VPI cleaned and placed in a new poly lined inner sleeve. Item will be sent in a new 6mil. clear sleeve (thickest available at Musicdirect) - record and original inner sleeve (if included) inside bag, shipped outside of cardboard sleeve to prevent seam splits.
