Il gruppo includeva due ex studenti del Mannes College di New York City : Wyatt Day (chitarra, tastiere, voce), che ha scritto o co-scritto la maggior parte delle canzoni della band, e Jon Pierson (trombone, voce). Registrarono due album. Il primo fu un album omonimo del 1968 per l'etichetta Elektra , in cui il personale comprendeva Day, Pierson, Maury Baker (organo, percussioni), Giovanni Papalia (chitarra solista), Bill Folwell (tromba, basso, voce) e Jonathan Raskin (basso, chitarra, voce). La band fu messa sotto contratto dall'Elektra da Paul Rothchild , che produsse il loro album omonimo a Los Angeles , con testi aggiuntivi di Greg Copeland e pubblicato nell'aprile 1968. Tuttavia, la band si sciolse dopo un'esibizione di supporto ai Doors al Fillmore East a metà del 1968, più o meno nello stesso periodo in cui furono promossi con un profilo sulla rivista Life . Day e Pierson formarono quindi una nuova versione della band, con il chitarrista Sam Brown , il trombettista Jimmy Owens , il bassista Art Koenig, il tastierista Warren Bernhardt e il batterista Joe Hunt.
