Description
Original UK Topic label mono press LP.The first lp by Anne Briggs was recorded in 1966 while she was in a relationship with a Scotsman known as "Gary the archer," who proved to be violently abusive. She was rescued by Hamish Henderson, who accidentally bumped into her and invited her to join Louis Killen, Dave Swarbrick & Frankie Armstrong for a recording project in London. This resulted in the album called The Bird in The Bush first issued in 1966 and later re-issued by Topic in 1976. This is the 1976 issue with the earliest A-1A B-1A matrices and A/A stampers of the first issues! The Robert Stace matt sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some very light edge/corner wear and some light discolouration on the cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain inner is intact and in EX condition. The record is in visually EX+ condition, with only one or two faint hairlines visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with no evidence of few spindle markings on either side. The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, hiss or crackle & definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some very brief background noise during the run in grooves, overall a really great, loud and clear listen! The matrix nos. are; 344, A-1A stamper A, B-1A stamper A. This is one of the earliest copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1976 UK stereo re-issue of this album.
