Es gibt Musikprojekte, die scheitern, weil sie zu ambitioniert sind. Es gibt Musikprojekte, die scheitern, weil die Produktion viel zu teuer würde. Und es gibt Musikprojekte, die extrem ambitioniert sind, unanständig teuer werden und trotzdem gelingen. Ein solches ist dieses Album. Aber der Reihe nach: Hinter diesem Projekt stecken als finanzielle Sponsoren Gary Koh vom Lautsprecherbauer Genesis Advanced Technologies in den USA und Wuti Larnroongroj von Brilliance Music in Thailand. Die beiden bemängelten, dass es kaum noch neue Platten im ultimativen Direct-To-Disc-Verfahren, bei dem die Musik live im Studio eingespielt und direkt in eine Lackfolie zur LP-Produktion geschnitten wird, gibt.

Der Hintergrund dieser Misere ist ganz einfach: Das trauen sich nur wenige Künstler zu. Eine Nachbearbeitung ist unmöglich und es müssen alles Songs auf einer LP-Seite fehlerfrei hintereinander durchgespielt werden. Dafür braucht es richtig fitte Musiker und lange Studiozeit am Stück mit aufwändig zu installierendem Equipment vor Ort. Anne Bisson ist als Jazz-Vokalistin am Piano ein gestandener Profi und wurde kurzerhand für eine mehrtägige Sitzung im Studio von Bernie Grundmann in Hollywood engagiert. Die passenden Songs mitsamt Begleitung in Form von Kontrabass und Schlagzeug waren schnell gefunden. Michael Ross als Toningenieur im Hause Grundmann war für die Technik verantwortlich und schnitt das Ganze auch noch einmal analog und in DSD mit.

Mit Anne Bisson (Gesang und Piano) spielen Jean-Bertrand Carbou (Kontrabass) und Pierre Tanguay (Schlagzeug und Percussion) - eine kanadische Besetzung.

Klanglich ist das Ergebnis absolut grandios! Selten hat man einen Flügel, einen Kontrabass oder eine Fußpauke so lebensecht auf Vinyl hören können. Das mag auch mit der Experimentierfreude des Plattenpresswerks RTI zu tun haben. Dort verwendete man erstmals ein ganz neues Vinyl-Granulat, welches zu weniger Rillengeräusch führt. Von dieser Doppel-LP gibt es nur 3.000 handnummerierte Exemplare weltweit. Als ausführende Produzentin agierte Abey Fonn von Impex Records hinter den Kulissen und dementsprechend kann man sich auch über ein 16-seitiges Handbuch und ein liebevoll gefertigtes Cover der LP freuen.

There are music projects that fail because they are too ambitious. There are music projects that fail because the production would be too expensive. And there are music projects that are extremely ambitious, become indecent expensive and still succeed. Such is this album. But in turn: behind this project are as financial sponsors Gary Koh from the loudspeaker Genesis Advanced Technologies in the US and Wuti Larnroongroj from Brilliance Music in Thailand. The two complained that there are hardly any new records in the ultimate direct-to-disc process, in which the music is recorded live in the studio and cut directly into a paint film for LP production.

The background of this misery is quite simple: only a few artists dare to. A post-processing is impossible and it must be played through all the songs on a LP page error-free in a row. This requires really fit musicians and a long studio time at a stretch with complex on-site equipment. Anne Bisson, a jazz vocalist on the piano, is a seasoned professional and was hired for a multi-day session in the studio of Bernie Grundmann in Hollywood. The matching songs along with accompaniment in the form of double bass and drums were quickly found. Michael Ross as a sound engineer at Grundmann was responsible for the technology and cut the whole thing in analogy and in DSD.

With Anne Bisson (vocals and piano) Jean-Bertrand Carbou (double bass) and Pierre Tanguay (drums and percussion) - a Canadian cast.

Acoustically, the result is absolutely terrific! Rarely have you heard a piano, a double bass or a timpani so lifelike on vinyl. That may also have something to do with the experimentation of the plate pressing plant RTI. There they used for the first time brand new vinyl granules, which leads to less groove noise. There are only 3,000 hand-numbered copies of this double LP worldwide. As executive producer Abey Fonn of Impex Records acted behind the scenes and accordingly one can also look forward to a 16-page manual and a lovingly crafted cover of the LP.
