Andrew Hill 'Point Of Departure' - Blue Note reissue.


Don't sleep on Mr. Hill's back catalogue! This is a killer cut featuring some great tunes and some absolute *beasts* like Kenny Dorham, Eric Dolphy and Tony Williams. This is a great jumping on point for Hill, with flashes of the style that slightly discordant playing style (Monk 2.0?) which sets him apart from the pack.

I've play tested all records before listing them, I'll honestly flag up anything glaring about them as I'm a pretty fussy shopper/grader. I'm only selling this stuff because I've got duplicates of them (e.g. Tone Poet or Classics Series reissues). The sleeve on this one is really NM, still in the original shrink (I resisted the temptation to rip it off!), no shelf wear or corner dinks. It comes with original poly-lined inner sleeve and the vinyl itself is flat and clean. TBH, I haven't really played them back to back, but there's no striking difference between this and the Classics Series reissue. Having a clear out because I have a bit of time off, need the shelf space and can recycle the money to grab new releases...


I always ship used records with the vinyl outside of the outer sleeve (in a free polypropylene outer sleeve) to prevent ring wear. I have stacks of sturdy recycled record sleeves (I buy a lot of new stuff online), so this should arrive in decent condition even if your local postie is a bit cack-hsnded.


(There's clearly something wrong with the camera on my phone because all the photos I've taken are blurred down the left hand side. No idea what caused this, but if you want more/better photos showing any specific details, please ask and I'll do my best!)
