Up for auction is my white label promo copy of America's first album which was simply titled "America". There is a bit of history around this album. When the album was first released, it did not contain the song ,"A Horse with no Name." That song was released as a single concurrently at the same time as this album, and when Warner Brothers realized the single was becoming a huge hit, they quickly decided to repress the album, this time adding the song to the first side, reprinting the label on the first side of the album, and changing the cover of the outer sleeve to show "A Horse with no Name". Copies of the first true release of this album that does not contain A Horse with no Name are very rare, I have not seen any besides this copy, which is actually a white label promo. The LP itself is Near Mint on both sides, both visually and audio-wise. No scratches or scuffs on the vinyl and the labels are pristine, and the sound itself is also pristine, no audio issues at all and the best sounding copy that I have heard and I have owned multiple copies of this LP. The stampers are the earliest possible stampers for this record, they are BS2576 A and 39997 - 1A for the first side and BS2576 B and 39998-1A for the second side. The outer record sleeve, I am going to call Near Mint minus, it is beautiful and complete all the way around, the only issue is that the previous owner (probably a record station) has written in pen on the back side a small number "50" at the top right hand side and a small "Time 42:04" at the bottom left hand side. There is also a small faint 1/4" wrinkle to the bottom corner of the sleeve where the lp slips into the sleeve. Most importantly the song list on the back side is missing "A Horse with no Name", so this is the true first issue of the outer sleeve as well and matches the lp! The inner sleeve is also beautiful, it has a 1" slit the the bottom but other than that is pristine, only shows the typical age browning of the paper due to the use of high acid papers historically used back at the time of the album's release in the early 70's. This is a very collectable and important album for the serious America collector. I will ship for free via USPS media mail only to the continental United States.
