Description

Artist: Alvin Batiste and the Southern University Jazz Ensemble (aka Jaguar Jazz Ensemble)
Album: Live at the 1971 American College Jazz Festival
Label: Jazzstronauts LP-1
Cover Condition: VG+ (light ringwear, wear to edges, no seam splits or tears)
Record Condition: VG (Visually has many light marks with two feelers, but the noise you can hear in the soundclips comes from the lo-fi nature of the recording and pressing - I've spoken with the one other person I know who has this and this is inherent to the pressing of the record. Plays through strongly with no skips or jumps. Please listen to the soundclips and if there is any part of the record you would like to hear, just ask.)

Very rare spiritual private jazz LP from the Jaguar Jazz Ensemble from 1971, arranged by Alvin Batiste who worked with Cannonball Adderley. Never been reissued or put on a compilation. Includes a version of John Coltrane's "Tunjii", Miles Davis "Milestones" and "So What", Freddie Hubbard's "Straight Life" as well as Batiste's own compositions "Music Came" and "North American Idiosyncrasy", which I consider to be the standout track on an album of winners. Please listen to the soundclips - all copies of this LP play with some background noise and clicks due to the low fidelity pressing. If you have any trouble with the audio clips please send me a message.

LP Shipping Costs:
Shipping throughout the USA is $10 for Priority with signature/delivery confirmation included. Insurance is VERY strongly recommended and will be at cost depending on the final value of the auction. Registered international express mail shipping is required due to the rarity and value of this record and will cost $35. The record will be very safely packed in a stiff cardboard record mailer with two inserts on each side, with the record an inner sleeve outside of the cover to prevent seam splits.

Payment via Paypal is preferred, other forms of payment will be considered on a case by case basis - if you plan on paying outside of paypal please contact me prior to bidding

All items are original pressings unless otherwise noted. I am a DJ and collector and grade conservatively on a simple scale of Sealed, NM, EX, VG+, VG, VG-, and G. All soundclips are taken from the copy of the record for sale and are not altered in any way.

If you have any questions please send me a message or email brendanib@gmail.com and I'll get back to you within 24 hours.
