This is THE 1971 FILLMORE EAST RECORDINGS 

by THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND, a beautiful 4-LP set in box; 

it is an audiophile pressing still SEALED in loose-fitting factory wrap 

and in MINT condition. The commercial release of this box is difficult to locate, 

particularly sealed; the version offered in this listing has never been offered 

before and probably won't be again as it is a limited pressing of the limited 

pressing. Rare does not even begin to describe it!

Considered by most critics to be one of the greatest live albums in rock music

history, the Allman Brothers' Live at the Fillmore East was selected for preservation 

in the Library of Congress (2004) having been deemed to be "culturally, historically, 

or aesthetically important" by the National Recording Registry, a program 

designed to guard and maintain America's sound recording heritage. 

In this offering we have the expanded version of that essential piece of Americana.

The set has been mixed and mastered from the original, multi-track tapes 

and contains previously unreleased material recorded on March 12 & 13; 

unfortunately, no tapes exist from the first night. 

Those of us who grew up listening to the Escorts, the Allman Joys, and 

Hour Glass recall Duane Allman's evolution, how he quit high school to practice 

the 6-string, how be became a master of the slide guitar and a statesman 

of electric blues.

Like Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman had a fluid quality to his playing able to make 

even the most impossible riffs appear effortless as if the guitar could be called 

upon to express emotions that words could not convey.

We had no way of knowing this album would be his peak. We thought he had many 

more things to teach us about the guitar. 

Duane died October 22, 1971, doing the thing he loved second-most -- riding his Sportster.
