Description
This is a MINT MINUS copy of 1965s Don't Put All Your Eggs In One Basket b/w Why Don't You Smile by The All Night Workers on Round Sound records RS-1. This group of All Night Workers were from Syracuse, New York (there were several ANWs in the UK) and were Billy Elmiger, Herb Flower, Otis Smith, Steve McCord & Lloyd Baskin. Smith was local and the others were Syracuse University students. They were formerly Otis and The Headliners and Subsequently most became The Albert---Baskin joined Seatrain. I bought this copy new in 1965 in Syracuse so it is indeed a first pressing original. It looks MINT with a wee bit of label wear on top side (see scan). "Eggs" is a quintessential Frat Rock tune that stands up to this day; "Why Don't You Smile" was the very first recorded song written by John Cale and Lou Reed before they formed the The Velvet Underground---contrary to reports, Reed and Cale were never in the ANW---but Reed had been roommate of McCord and Baskin when he was an SU student. This is the only 45 ever on Round Sound which was subsidiary of Pickwick International where Reed and Cale then worked. Media Mail in US $5.50; International rates to be determined.
