AL BOWLLY SINGS WITH VICTOR YOUNG AND HIS ORCH.-- "DECO" DECCA 293 If I Had A Million Dollars // Be Still My Heart-- Condition: E+ // E+ An early "deco" Decca record, which, according to Brian Rust's Entertainment Discography, is the FIRST record Mr. Bowlly recorded in the United States and one of only two recorded for Decca! Recorded in New York, 10/30/1934, this wonderful recording features the British heart-throb vocalist, Al Bowlly, with Victor Young and his big studio orchestra playing two great tunes. Record collectors will have been used to hearing Mr. Bowlly sing with Ray Noble and other British orchestras, here, he comes to Yankee Land to make a few sides. A gorgeous copy of this disc, very smooth and almost no surface noise. Rare to find a Decca from this period so clean and nice. My favorite side is the "A" side, If I Had A Million Dollars, which he sings like no other American singer I've heard croon this one; "B" side is the same velvet voice and wonderful orchestral back up.  A RARE ONE, INDEED! Since there are now others posted from me, I will happy to combine orders to save shipping costs, since it costs very little more to ship six records as it does to ship one!  However, any record agreed to be held, must be paid for with 48 hours, or they will be put up for second chance offers. It is impossible to tie us all of the income from "held" records, for, what could be weeks, without payment. Unless otherwise noted, records are shipped in plain manilla sleeves and shipped in heavy cardboard boxes with double pieces of cardboard top and bottom and the middle (if the the shipment is large enough) and packed with popcorn and/or bubble material.
