Reggae/Dub-Legende Lee "Scratch" Perry arbeitete mit allen zusammen - von The Congos über The Clash bis zu The Beastie Boys. Für Brian Eno ist er ein "Genius der Musik", innovativ, einflussreich, exzentrisch, ein Mastermind seines eigenen musikalischen Universums, vergleichbar nur mit Sun Ra im Jazz, mit einem Katalog von unschätzbarer Breite und Tiefe. Seine 1983 mit Adrian Sherwood begonnene Zusammenarbeit erreicht mit "Rainford" einen neuen Höhepunkt. Das Album entstand innerhalb von zwei Jahren in Jamaika, Brasilien und UK.
