Description

Ernest Fischbach & Charles Ewing: "A Cid Symphony" (3 LP) 1967, USA/No label 7-121 - 7-126. This album should be in a museum, as it is a tangible testament to the volatile late '60s in the USA. The vinyls are all in the range of near mint visually; if you are familiar with this legendary rarity you will be aware that completely Mint discs seemingly do not exist, they all have some little imperfections.  However, this copy contains perhaps the best preserved vinyls in existence. Featuring some of the earliest color vinyl known to exist. This triple set, features three individual colored vinyls. The inner sleeves and album cover exhibit some wear, ratings vary between very good to very good plus conditions. All three printed inner-sleeves are here, and there will be some unique inserts included. There is hand written by the band members, listing of songs, on the back of each album cover. Incredibly rare item up for grabs, a privately made triple LP on beautiful transparent colored vinyls put together by an ambitious collective right in the center of drug experimentation and war protest, late 60s Berkeley, California. There's a radical political vibe throughout, as the producer was a figure with the Free Speech Movement at the University Of California at Berkeley. The band members were studying at the nearby Ali Akbar College Of Music, so their folky compositions are strongly Eastern-influenced. Combining these personalities makes for a heady listen, even 40 years later. There are no three minute pop songs here, no heavy guitar. It's more of a dark ceremony to my ears. Imagine Peter Walker's Rainy Day Raga LP stretched out to 99 minutes with field recordings and some spoken word segments and you'll be close to where this thing goes...
