This RKO musical from 1957 starring Jane Powell brings back to the Hollywood scene one of the cleverest pen and piano teams in American musical comedy history-Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane. Their first Broadway show, Best Foot Forward produced the All-American fight song, "Buckle Down, Winsocki," and on the crest of its popularity they west to Hollywood and continued to chalk up both New York and Hollywood triumphs, outstanding among them the film "Meet Me in St. Louis," featuring the standards "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" & "The Trolley Song." Other music featured on this soundtrack is by Nelson Riddle, who scored this film, and lyricist Bob Russell.

 

"The Girl Most" Likely owns the distinction of being the last RKO Radio picture ever produced at the studio's Hollywood facilities; shortly afterward, RKO moved out and Desilu moved in. A musical remake of the 1941 Ginger Rogers comedy "Tom, Dick and Harry," the film stars Jane Powell as Dodie, an eligible bachelorette who must choose between three suitors. Wealthy Neil (Keith Andes) offers her a life of luxury and ease; salesman Buzz (Tommy Noonan) offers stability; and roughneck mechanic Pete (Cliff Robertson) can offer nothing but love. In a series of elaborate dream sequences, Dodie imagines what life would be like with her three beaus. Though Paul Jarrico wrote the original script upon which "The Girl Most Likely" was based, he was refused screen credit thanks to the insidious Hollywood blacklist. When the RKO Radio distribution chain collapsed in 1958, "The Girl Most" Likely was distributed by Universal-International. Also stars Kay Ballard and Una Merkel.

GRADING
NM   Near Mint. Record and cover appear virtually unmarked. Cover still in shrink.

VG++ A hair under near mint may have  only a couple of very insignificant surface only lines that should not affect sound.

Cover out of shrink otherwise close to perfect.

VG+   A  cared for record. Some surface lines. May still play perfectly or will have  very slight audible imperfections.

Some normal cover wear.

VG…  There will be visual imperfections and  some audible ones . May be a number of surface only lines or there might be

a small scratch but not one that  repeats, Cover will be worn or have some kind of defect. In this condition flaws will be

pictured or noted.

VG- .. Usually the lowest rating I will list an LP at. Same as VG but defects are more pronounced.  May have more than 1

scratch but still not one that repeats. This record will still be enjoyable but there will almost definitely be background sound.

I have sold many rare 78s and older acetates at this grade and buyers have almost always been quite  pleased. , In this

condition flaws will be pictured or noted.

G+: There may be skips or some other major defect or the background sound is so loud that listening might be a chore.

Flaws will be stated, Covers will have major defects that need to be stated.

G: Better to use as a frisbee

I use United States Postal Service. Within the USA in most cases I invoice via media mail. Very expensive or very fragile items such as 78's I prefer shipping via Priority. Unfortunately 1st class mail shipping outside the USA does not include tracking and although it typically takes 2 weeks the Post Office gives no time guarantee and on rare occasions it has taken over a month.

On rare occasions items in my store have disappeared through a black hole and are being listened to in another dimension by aliens with no head but a huge ear on their neck. HOW I PACK FOR LPs FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING
To keep the price of international shipping of 1 LP at $15.00 I don’t charge for packaging costs but I need to keep the weight within 1lb. I use professional Lp mailers & in addition I usually use a light but hard foam stiffener. Sometimes I will use 1 piece of cardbord. I take the record out of the jacket if there is a possibility it might split.  I don't recall ever having any problems shipping this way. If you would like me to ship differently you must contact me before you pay so I can invoice you for any extras costs.

100% ACCURACY IN GRADING RECORDS IS A JOB FOR SUPERMAN!

At times defects will show up differently on different players.  For instance,

depending on the weight that a tone arm is set at or the quality of the stylus

what is just a pop on one player can sometimes be a skip on another
