Description
Early Stereo Week here at 33anda3rd!. Lots of 60's stereo in this list accompanying this lp, plus unusual repertoire and limited pressings.
AUDIOPHILE Astree AS1 Jordi SAVALL Viole de Gambe "Couperin Pieces de Violes 1728" Recital with Ariane Maurette on a 1697 Bass Viole plus Ton Koopman accompanist on a 17th century Gilbert Harpsichord. Gatefold sleeve first issue on the label, what a start, this is a sublime recording. Back then in 1976 Savall was not the star he is these days, just look at the group portrait from within the gatefold shown here - a young man destined then to be the musician most responsible for the revival in Viole de Gambe repertoire, much like his fellow Catalan Casals did for the Bach suites. This is in fact the first recording of his issued where he is the principal soloist. Do not miss this one!.
Unmarked pristine playing surfaces, Near Mint condition record, in a Near Mint sleeve. Records not warped, labels are clean.
Several unplayed rarities in my list this week..
