Description
Up for bids is this very rare copy of Supertramp "Paris" ( 2 LP set w/ gatefold ).
It is an A&M Audiophile Series Limited Edition (SPj6702).
This is the special 1982 remaster of the standard 1980 album.
It is long out of print.
A&M Audiophile Series records were remastered at half speed from the original master tapes.
They are pressed on high quality virgin vinyl.
The entire process by JVC in Japan, was exactly the same for both A&M and MFSL (and during the same era).
The stunning sound for both is equally amazing.
Front:
But unlike MFSL, Canada's A&M Audiophile Series LP's (pressed in Japan) were not released in the U.S.
They trickled into U.S. record stores here and there through Import distributors.
So as limited as the MFSL albums are, the A&M Audiophile Series albums appear to be even more difficult to come by.
Compare the number of MFSL LP's with the number of A&M Audiophile LP's listed on Ebay.
A&M released Audiophile albums by only 11 artists during its run.
Supertramp "Paris" is thought to be the rarest, and is certainly the hardest to find.
From what I understand, this is likely due to it being the only double LP release - making it costlier to produce. This would explain why there seem to be fewer of them.
Also, this is the only JVC Audiophile pressing of this remarkable album.
Making it by far the best recording of this 2 LP set.
Back:
Condition:
The album is open, but comes in its original clear heavy plastic bag/sleeve with flap (see photos).
Vinyl: M- I carefully played the LP's only twice (on a quality turntable). Once to listen to, once to record to cassette tape.
The LP's are pristine!
Gatefold Jacket: VG+ Has corner dings w/creases and a few other areas that are creased > no creases over cover art.
Colors are vibrant and jacket still shines like new.
There is no ring wear
*Due to it being a tight 2 LP set, it has a typical very light LP impression (not wear) in places.
And there are no seam splits.
Photo of outer plastic sleeve with flap up to show how the sticker-seal was separated to open the flap (it's hard to see in the photo because the plastic is see-through, but the sticker-seal's top half is connected to the sleeve's raised flap):
I purchased this album new when it was first released - over 28 years ago!
It was of course an import - that our local record store had gotten in.
After recording it, the album was placed back in its original sturdy bag, and has been properly / vertically stored in our smoke free home ever since.
This is your chance to get the only JVC Japan Audiophile pressing of this truly amazing, very hard to find album!
