LP-Title: Pat Metheny – Secret Story

Original German pressing from 1992 om GEFFEN, GEF 24408. Two record-set in a plain cover, each record has a printed cardboard inner-sleeve with the line-ups for each track and more photo-collage artwork. As the title “Secret Story” indicates, the whole album seems to tell story, according to the titles of the tracks it's a love story without a happy-end. The whole album sounds very much like a film-soundtrack with Metheny playing more instruments than usual and he is tastefully supported by the world famous London Symphony Orchestra plus some more wellknown guest-musicians. Stylistically unusual for Metheny, therer are elements of exotica, neo-folk, jazz, latin and more. Metheny's guitar sounds better than ever: reflective, beautiful, dramatic and expressive. Breathtaking 76 minutes of music and of outstanding sound-quality, making this LP a true audiophile highlight.

Condition: The album has many quiet parts and it’s hard to find a copy playing in mint- all of the time, even if it looks mint-. I have listened very carefully to the whole album from the beginning to the end to give you a complete and honest description.

All 4 sides look mint- to mint--, under a real strong light you may see a few papersleeve-lines from the cardboard-innersleeves. The only exception is the second track on side 3, it has 1 spot with a few tiny marks, they cause ca. 3 soft tics in the background at the beginning of the track. The rest of the whole record plays in mint nearly all of the time with some very few, very occasional and very low singular backgroundtics. I think an overall conservative grading as mint---/ex++ is justified.

The cover has intact seams/spine with just a a few spots of rub on the seam, front & back are perfect, overall mint-. Both innersleeves are in mint-.

Grading & Cleaning:

• the record has been cleaned on my professional HANNL record cleaning machine

• after that I playgraded it (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN:TU-3 Super Fine Line ( please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment )

• I also visually graded the record under a strong light

• only an unplayed record is mint, the highest grading for a used record is mint- ! My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg.

• cleaned records are stored in a new deluxe innersleeve and they are placed in a new PVC protection-sleeve !
