Description:

ATTILLO "ART" MINEO Conducts Man In Space With Sounds.  Issued in 1962 for the Seattle World’s Fair. Tracks:  Welcome To Tomorrow, Gayway To Heaven, Soaring Science, Mile-A-Minute Monorail, Around The World, Century 21, Man In Art, The Queen City, Man Seeks The Future, Boeing Spacearium, Science Of Tomorrow, and Space Age World’s Fair.  This is the original recording.   Not a reissue.  Monaural.  33 1/3 RPM.  LP55555.  Music and effects by special arrangements with Thomas Valentino, Inc.,  149 West 46th Street, New York. Vinyl in excellent condition.  Cardboard sleeve has a few small dark spots on back.   Bottom right corner of sleeve creased slightly. From my web research:  Created for the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, which itself provided several space age icons--most noteably the Space Needle--Mineo's album combines his modernistic compositions with alien-sounding effects laboriously produced on pre-Moog electronic instruments. Mineo manages to blends orchestral scores with sound effects so that there is almost no distinction between them. The strings and horns are as "alien" as the alarm sounds and the Theremin wails.. As a novelty item from the Fair that served as the soundtrack to an exhibit of a clear plastic sphere/elevator known as the Bubbleator, the album quickly disappeared and is now a collectors item.
