ASSAGAI rare PROMO LP Vertigo SWIRL funk VEL-1004 AFRO SOUL Mumia Abu Jamal
Vinyl is VG++/EX. Still has nice gloss. Very clean sound overall. A few minor marks on vinyl do not cause any major noise/skips/or jumps. A very nice listen, and a well-cared-for album, for sure. Gatefold Cover is VG++ with minor signs of age/wear. 2 stickers that appear to be a name labels (indicating that this LP may have been owned by Mumia Abu Jamal) are affixed to the cover, both inside and outside. SEE PHOTOS. (additional info on Mumia included below). I bought this from a collection that had the same name labels on other LPs.

Mumia Abu-Jamal (born Wesley Cook April 24, 1954) is a convicted murderer who was sentenced to death in 1982 for the 1981 murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner.Abu-Jamal became involved in black nationalism in his youth and was a member of the Black Panther Party until October 1970, after which he became a radio journalist, eventually becoming president of the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists. On December 9, 1981, Faulkner was fatally shot while conducting a routine traffic stop of Abu-Jamal's brother, William Cook. Abu-Jamal was found at the scene with a bullet wound from Faulkner's gun and his own discharged revolver beside him. He was arrested and charged with Faulkner's murder.Prosecution witnesses identified Abu-Jamal as the shooter and two testified that he had confessed to shooting Faulkner. A jury convicted Abu-Jamal on all counts and sentenced him to death. He spent the next 30 years on death row. After a succession of all possible appeals by Abu-Jamal were exhausted, his conviction was upheld but his death sentence vacated. He was resentenced to life in prison without parole. District Attorney Seth Williams later stated that no further appeals would be filed in pursuit of the death penalty.Activists, celebrities, and liberal groups have criticized the fairness of Abu-Jamal's trial, professed his innocence, and opposed his death sentence. The Faulkner family, public authorities, police organizations, and conservative groups have maintained that Abu-Jamal's trial was fair, his guilt undeniable, and his death sentence appropriate. Once described as "perhaps the world's best known death-row inmate" by The New York Times, during his imprisonment Abu-Jamal has published books and commentaries on social and political issues, including Live from Death Row (1995). 
He has been called "Perhaps the best known Death-Row prisoner in the world."
-- Assagai was an Afro-rock band from South Africa, active in the early 1970s in London. It consisted of five members: drummer Louis Moholo, trumpeter/flautist Mongezi Feza, tenor saxophonist Bizo Muggikana, guitarist Fred Cocker, and alto saxophonist Dudu Pukwana. They recorded for the British label Vertigo Records.
Assagai's self-titled debut album was released in 1971. It was reissued on CD by Repertoire Records in 1994. Their second and final album, Zimbabwe, was released later in 1971. The album was re-released as LP by Music for Pleasure label, but under a different title, AfroRock. Both their albums featured songs written by members of Jade Warrior and also included guest appearances from them as well.In the 1960s, Pukwana, Feza and Moholo were also members of the jazz band The Blue Notes alongside Chris McGregor. Releasing only two albums, Assagai and Zimbabwe their short career was massively influential, gaining cult status before the band had split up.
