On HMV first semi-circle label ASD 596 and 597 two record set with early sleeve misprint
This auction is for a superb copy of this much-sought after recording, bearing the first edition semi-circle labels, early pressing stampers, and a misprinted and subsequently withdrawn sleeve.
This is a prized and potentially expensive recording, so if you have not bought from me in the past, please satisfy yourself before bidding by reading my feedback. Simple grading can be misleading, so please read the full description of condition which I hope will be helpful.
Condition:
Sleeves: The two records are each housed in a front-laminated single sleeve with flipbacks. Both have minimal light wear only, and are very clean and sound with strong clearly legible spines. 597 has a couple of slightly knocked corners and an arc of light ringwear showing on the unlaminated rear. The records come complete with original EMI poly lined inners. Of particular note is the sleeve to 596 (see photo) - this bears the misprinted text 'Set of 3' - subsequently corrected to 'Set of 2'.
Vinyl: The vinyl looks superb, retaining its original lustre with no marks apart from the customary expected very light paper scraping. Both records have bright clean labels with no no more than a couple of spindle marks suggesting very few plays. They play excellently. (This is a three-sided set, so side two of 597 has no label, but the text 'do not play this side' and three large impressed HMV logos)
Grading: I could never describe any record of this age as 'near mint' (even if it is!) purely because there is bound to be some accumulation of dust or static. However, this is a superb set, belying its 45 years - a definite keeper copy, there can not be many better in circulation. I am not a dealer, but would guess that this might be graded as sleeves EX and EX+ vinyl EX+ and EX+ (per RC guidelines)

Postage: I do not set out to profit from P&P charges - price quoted below is my best estimate of exact Royal Mail charge. Packages are only covered for approx £40 compensation, so you may wish to purchase additional insurance. I am happy to combine shipping to minimize expense for multiple purchases (though a 2kg total limit per package will be observed for overseas shipping). ?
Basic postage cost (625 gms including packing) - UK £2.75, USA & Far East £8.41, Europe £4.62.
In order to include insurance cover to £500, overseas cost will be approx. £7 extra to above, UK about £4 extra.
