Description

Visual VG++/M- not a mark on all discs, I had to clean remains of liquid cleaner off them and this has left some static which should come out with repeated cleanings. Clean labels, slight age spotting on the David Stone Martin cover, the box itself is suffering from maybe flat storage and slight squashing as split the top side corner seams on both lid and box so that the very top box spine is detached. There is also a split along the bottom one about a third of the length which at one stage had some tape on it. I have made no attempt to repair the box, better the new owner does that the way they want but all parts are intact. Also intact are four B/W photos in a special envelope I assume came with the box when it was released in 1954 - they are thick card prints of photos by Phil Stern that appear to be individually made from the negatives!

This set originally contained vols 2/3/4/5 of The Genius of Art Tatum individual albums - the tracks for those are listed in the box along with notes by Norman Granz - however this set has a 'bonus' Vol One included (Clef 612) which I assume the owner slipped in and has made a written notation on. Also notated are the songwriting credits. The box set itself has NO serial number but the other 4 records are 613/614/615/618. This would have cost a fortune when it came out and needless to say (but I will) is hard to find now
