Description
ART TATUM RARITY I believe this to be a previously unissued performance of 'Body & Soul' by ART TATUM & HIS TRIO which also features Tiny Grimes (Guitar) and Slam Stewart (Bass).
The record label shows two dates, 26 Jan. 1943 and 26 Apr. 1943.
As far as I can ascertain, this is not from either the ASCH or COMET sessions.
The performance is announced and there is audience applause. I have no idea of the recording location, and I'm not entirely convinced that it was a live recording at all. The announcement and audience applause may have been dubbed onto an earlier studio recording. Other clues are the handwritten 'French dubbing' and the BBC label.
This is a 12" acetate 78rpm record. The music plays to E- grading and the playing side is in excellent condition without digs, flakes or other problems, though the blank reverse of the record (with the identification label) does have some flaking on the outer edge - see picture.

As a collector of 78s myself, I understand the importance of safe packing for postage. 78s won in my auctions are sandwiched between stiff card, taped at edges and wrapped in bubble wrap. They are then placed in an oversized box and are protected with further cushioning.
