ART PEPPER QUARTET Tampa RS 1001 / Black Label Original. The visual grade of the lp would be VG. The lp has many light scratches on both sides. None of these scratches are deep enough to be felt. The labels look fine but there is wear around the spindle holes. I have played the lp several times and it plays much better than it visually appears. Rather than give a simple generic audio grade, I will try to provide some detail on each selection. ART'S OPUS - This tune plays clean with no obvious issues. I SURRENDER DEAR - There is a click at the end of the piano solo. Also 3 clicks heard during the sax/drum exchange late in the song. DIANE - This ballad plays nice with some occasional very light background noise. PEPPER POT - Some light background noise at the beginning of song. Heard 3 clicks during the piano solo. The rest plays clean. BESAME MUCHO - Some light static in second chorus at beginning of song. Then 3 clicks at beginning of sax solo. BLUES AT TWILIGHT - There are several light tics during first chorus. Then 2 loud clicks late in the piano solo. VAL'S PAL - plays clean with no issues. I would grade the audio at around VG+, but with the detailed description above, you can pretty much assign a grade of your own. Pay more attention to my description than the generic grade. Regarding the jacket condition...The edges and the back side have some wear and are no longer perfectly white. There is a tiny bit of peeling on the front right side. 3 of the 4 corners are rounded and all 3 sides are cellophane taped. The taping was done tastefully and the tape is still clear. The illustration on the front of the jacket has good colors and good eye appeal. You can get a better idea of the jacket condition by examining the scans. My grading system is M (sealed) / NM / VG++ / VG+ / VG / VG- / G / F. I do NOT use excellent (EX) as a grade. This is an auction for US residents only. No international shipping.
