Up for auction is a beautiful copy of the Art Blakey album "A Message From Blakey" aka "Holiday For Skins, Volume 2" released on Blue Note records (BN 4005) in 1959. Legendary percussion sessions that also include the brilliant work of Donald Byrd, Ray Bryant, and Wendell Marshall. Comes with all the bells and whistles: deep groove, mono original pressing, 9M and "ears" in the dead wax, 47 W. 63rd St. NYC labels, No "Inc.", No "R" (registered trademark). All the hallmarks of a genuine Blue Note first pressing of this recording. This is one of the most superb copies I've ever seen. Virtually no signs of previous handling. When I first acquired it many years ago, I thought that it had never been played--it was that nice. And it has remained in that pristine condition in my record archive ever since. Front cover retains its original high gloss laminate shine. No rubbing losses, chips, or tears. Corners are sharp, un-rubbed, no losses. Seams are perfect, strong, no cracks, no losses. Back cover is equally beautiful, bone white, no ring wear, no age discoloration. One tiny pen mark below the word "Fidelity" in upper left corner. It looks virtually just as it did the day it was taken out of the original shrink wrap. Only flaw is a very slight "dishing" of the cover from storage, but this is hardly worth even mentioning, because this cover will live up to the pickiest standards. I would grade this cover Near Mint (NM), my highest rating. The super heavy vinyl disc is equally stunning. It shows virtually no signs of previous handling or play. I wouldn't be surprised if it's been played once, if that. No marks around spindle holes, indicating little or no previous play. Labels are bright, no soil or losses. No obvious scratches or scuffs on the disc. Maybe some very minor signs of having been taken out of the paper inner sleeve a few times for inspection. That's it. Otherwise, this record looks as new. Retains all of its original high gloss luster and sheen. I would grade this vinyl Near Mint (NM), my highest grade for an opened record. Here's a great opportunity to acquire this rare Blue Note title in absolutely beautiful condition. 100% satisfaction or your money back. No risk buying. I am also listing the Volume 1 edition of this record at the same time. Get both, the complete set. You will never have to look for better copies. This is as good as it gets.
