THE TEN INCH CARD STOCK WITH RUB AND RING WEAR BOTH SIDES. CORNERS AND EDGES WITH ROUGH SPOTS AND SOME SMALL OUTER LAYER LOSSES. BOTTOM SLEEVE SIDE SPLIT ABOUT TWO INCHES. TOP EDGE SPLIT ABOUT HALF INCH SLEEVE SIDE. OVERALL AGE DISCOLORATION WITH SOME LIGHT STAINING TO BACK SIDE.

SPINDLE RUB MARKS AROUND HOLE. BOTH SIDES WITH SURFACE RUB MARKS/SCUFFS/PLAY LINES. SIDE TWO WITH ALIGHT LINE ACROSS THE TRACKS THAT CAN BE LIGHTLY FELT WITH FINGERTIP. I'VE TEST PLAYED THIS LP ON THE VPI TURNTABLE AND PROFESSIONAL SOUND SYSTEM AND THERE IS SOME LIGHT SURFACE THROUGHOUT. NOT A TERRIBLE DISTRACTION, BUT PRESENT. SOME LIGHT CRACKLE HERE AND THERE. SIDE TWO LINE WITH A LIGHT CLICK ON SOME REVOLUTIONS. STILL A PRETTY WONDERFUL SOUNDING LP AFTER OVER 50 YEARS. A DEEP GROOVE PRESSING THAT DOES NOT DIE. MAY APPEAR VG MINUS OUT OF THE SLEEVE, MORE OF A VG PLAY OVERALL DEPENDING ON HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT LIGHT SURFACE/BACKGROUND NOISE.

The second volume taken from Art Blakey's pre-Jazz Messengers gig at Birdland features the immortal trumpeter Clifford Brown, altoist Lou Donaldson, pianist Horace Silver, bassist Curly Russell and the leader/drummer romping through the blues "Wee-Dot," two Charlie Parker tunes, an alternate version of "Quicksilver" and a Donaldson ballad feature on "If I Had You." All of the musicians are inspired, none more than Blakey who would soon form The Jazz Messengers as a permanent outlet for his hard-swinging drums.

AND, LASTLY, PLEASE DO REMEMBER SOUND QUALITY IS AFFECTED BY WHAT THE VINYL IS PLAYED ON!!!
