Description
Original 1957 first pressing LP of A Midnight Session with the Jazz Messengers on Elektra EKL-120-X -- very rare stereo copy with the gold stereo sticker on the cover. Features Jackie McLean on alto, and he is at his best here. This copy is in excellent condition, with some light superficial marks and sleeve scuffs but it plays just beautifully with little-to-no noise. I listened to the whole thing and there are no pops, skips, or even any crackle at all, except at the very beginning of side B in the drum intro, where there is faint crackle for a few moments, which quickly fades. The rest of the time it plays flawlessly, quiet as a mouse between tracks and in all the softer parts. A near perfect listen. And really this stereo version is fantastic! I am so used to the more common mono version, and hearing the stereo is a revelation. So much better, to my ears. Anyhow this copy plays so clean it is just a thrill to hear. The cover has a seam split about 1/3 of the way across the top edge, and has a little spotting along the right side, but is overall beautiful, with no dogears, creases, strong ringwear, or other damage. Really a beautiful copy.
