Item Description:
A new but original, unplayed, Monday 23rd January 2006 release of the Arctic Monkeys debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', on 12" vinyl.
I personally bought five copies of this vinyl album at 12am on Monday 23rd January, 2006. Directly after attending the Arctic Monkeys album launch gig at the Sheffield Leadmill on Sunday 22nd January, 2006 (I've included a copy of the original ticket in the photographs, please note that THIS TICKET IS NOT FOR SALE). The intention was to hand them over to friends, but most had already purchased a copy, so I ended up keeping four of them with the idea of selling them come the 10th anniversary of the release of the album. One has already gone to a private collector, I have three left.
So here it is!Ten years have flown by at an alarming speed. Original, unplayed and bought on the morning of release (they kept the Sheffield HMV open to sell the album at midnight on the 22nd/23rd). So unique you can even smell Sheffield as you slide the vinyl from the sleeve...

Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is the debut studio album by the English rock band Arctic Monkeys, released on 23 January 2006. The album surpassed Elastica's self-titled album to become the fastest selling debut album in British music history, shifting over 360,000 copies in its first week, and remains the fastest selling debut album by a band. It has since gone quintuple platinum in the UK.
The album includes both tracks from the band's original EP, Five Minutes with Arctic Monkeys, as well as their first two singles and UK number ones, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" and "When the Sun Goes Down". It has since appeared in several critics' publications, and is often cited as one of the best rock albums of the decade. It received the 2006 Mercury Prize for Best Album. It was ranked number 371 on Rolling Stone??'?s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In 2013 Rolling Stone ranked it the 30th greatest debut album of all time. In October 2013, music magazine NME ranked the album at number 19 in their poll of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
