Aphrodite's Child : 666 (The Apocalypse Of John, 13/18) 1Y1 / 2Y1 1Y1 2Y1 1st press 1972 Vertigo Rare
This very collectable first pressing plays with stunning quality across all four sides with barely any background and is easily the finest example I have ever listened to. The playback is just incredible! There are no clicks or pops, barely any static and only 3/4 minor ticks. Only one track 'Loud, Loud, Loud' is graded as Ex+ all the others grade higher! As always I have played every track in full so as to provide the 'complete' grade (no guessing here!) and the clarity, depth and power of the audio is phenomenal.
The laminated cover is in fantastic condition with barely any wear and has retained its original shape and structure perfectly. The original Vertigo inners are also in superb shape with only minimal wear.

Visual description
The vinyls are in lovely condition and still have a superb glossy sheen with no scratches and barely any marking. There is just one very small faint mark on S4 but it has no affect on the audio. Aside from that I can only see some light hairlines with just one on S2 that is a little more obvious but again it has no impact on the audio. There is no groove wear or 'mottling' and it is clear the records have not been played that much. The Vertigo labels are very clean with only a little spindle wear but S2 and S3 do have a label removal mark as can be seen.
Play grading
'The System' plays perfectly and then the intro on 'Babylon' has no background either. Roussos' opening vocal section plays with stunning clarity and it continues in the same exact way. The instrumental passages are 'as new' and these two opening tracks easily grade as Mint
The piano intro on 'Loud, Loud, Loud' has just one minor static at the start and the 'verses' then play very clearly with only a very quiet static sound once per revolution. There is one light tick towards the end. Ex+
The segue into 'The Four Horseman' has no intrusion and the opening vocal is just as impressive with not even a single dust tick. As the volume increases the playback is stunning - the instrumental 'bridge' has a handful of very quiet statics and the third verse plays with perfect clarity as does the following chorus. The mid instrumental could not play with any greater depth or clarity, incredible guitar work here! I cannot overstate just how strong and clear this instrumental section is! The remainder and including the fade out plays with phenomenal quality. Overall Mint- is deserved.
'The Lamb' plays with a sonic quality that can only be described 'as new'. The clarity of sound is quite simply STUNNING and it is Mint from start to finish. In essence it plays like it has never been on a turntable before!
The entire intro on 'The Seventh Seal' plays to perfection and the 'narration' plays very clearly with no interference. A hint of distortion on the vocal maybe but so minor and totally non-intrusive. Mint-
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The gentle intro on 'Aegian Sea' plays beautifully without any background. The guitar sections are so strong and clear and the 'vocal' passages are just as impressive. I do not want to labour a point but the sonic 'landscape' here is is STUNNING in so many ways - the clarity and warmth of the audio 'as new' throughout. The narration is equal to that and Mint is fair.
'Seven Bowls' plays with sublime clarity and the instrumental 'The Wakening Beast' has no background either. I think I'm running out of superlatives for this album now! Both grade as Mint
The intro on 'Lament' is so quiet and the clarity is astonishing! Wow!! The vocal section does have a 2/3 seconds of static and the remainder has no intrusion apart from one minor tick. Difficult to grade in a sense as 99% plays with exceptional clarity. Let's say Near Mint-
The four instrumental 'sections' then play with genuine quality with no sign of any interference and the next track 'The Beast' with vocals from Sideras has no intrusion either. Yet another perfect track. Mint
The very brief 'Ofis' ends S2 with perfect clarity. A Mint conclusion.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
'Seven Trumpets' plays with stunning quality and the opening section on 'Altamont' is just as strong and clear. The brass section has no background and the 'vocal' is crystal clear also with no statics, ticks, clicks or pops. Both tracks grade as Mint in every way.
The following two instrumentals 'The Wedding Of The Lamb' and 'The Capture Of The Beast' play with a clarity and definition that is second to none and again. Both kindly introduced by Forst!. They could could not play any better, the precision of the audio is 'as new' without question. Mint
Who knows what Vangelis was thinking with '∞' (Infinity) but it does play with incredible audio. There is one very quiet tick during Papas' vocal at the start but you have to hear it to believe it! The very quiet mid section has not even a solitary dust tick and the remainder plays so clearly with only a couple of minor ticks. No background static at all. Near Mint
S3 ends with a perfect version of 'Hic Et Nunc' that has no intrusion whatsoever. Another Mint track.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The quiet intro on 'All The Seats Were occupied' plays beautifully with only a couple of barely audible statics and from then on the clarity and depth really cannot be faulted. Every section of this 19 minute epic plays to such a high standard and there is no interference to speak of. Superb separation i.e. every note so clean and precise and can easily be heard and that applies to all the quieter sections also. A couple of mega quiet ticks at most. The 'louder' section towards the end plays with tremendous power and definition and there is no distortion. I cannot emphasise enough how well it plays from beginning to end and Mint- is richly deserved. Even the minus could be considered a little harsh!
'Break' ends the album in fine style with no intrusion on the audio. A superb Mint version.
The Gatefold & Vertigo Inner Sleeves
The iconic gatefold is in superb condition with only the bare minimum of shelf wear, it has been so well preserved. The edges have no rubbing and the spine remains wide and strong with no marking and barely any wear on the corners. The other corners are in great condition also and the opening edges have only very minimal handling wear. The laminated front cover is stunning without any marking and has just one tiny laminate lift section near the top edge. The laminated back cover is as impressive and the inside of the gatefold is so clean again with no marking etc. A superb example and worthy of a Near Mint- grading in my opinion.
The Vertigo inners are (both dated 0372) have also been so well looked after with no side splits and only a couple of minor 'nicks' on the central apertures. There is hardly any marking and only minimal creasing.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask. Many thanks.
All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
