TRIPLE-LP WARP LP21 STEREO 1994 LIMITED EDITION
A rare and wonderful record set, this is a “must-have” for any fan of ambient electronica. Sleeve condition is vg and the records’ condition is rated excellent.
Pressed on amber/brown vinyl, this is a limited edition triple album released in 1994. There were several editions of SAW2 available for purchase. The most complete, with all 25 tracks, was this Limited Edition UK vinyl, which was limited to a press run of 10,000 copies.
British electronics whizzkid Richard James (alias Aphex Twin, AFX and Polygon Window) claims he heard the compositions on Selected Ambient Works, Volume II in lucid dreams. Like abstract paintings composed of shades of a single color, James's resonant explorations of specific timbres linger close to a central idea on each cut, incorporating just enough variation to remain disturbing. One weird fact about this collection – the tracks are untitled.
The lack of written titles for the tracks on this release provided impetus for fans of the album to come up with their own, based on the enigmatic photographs displayed on the inner gatefold cover. Officially, however, the songs are still referred to by their track numbers. The most widely accepted track names are below: The longest track, number 19, is not available on the CD version of this record.
