Description

Up for auction is the complete 4 Volume, 8-LP set of the legendary Anthology of American Folk Music, compiled by Harry Smith on Folkways Records (and Revenant).

Not only is it rare to see all of these LPs on offer at once, these are ORIGINAL 50’s FOLKWAYS PRESSINGS and in fantastic condition! The vinyl plays very well, outer clamshell boxes all have attached hinges and all booklets are perfect (not ex-library copies).

Along the way I acquired the massive LP-sized booklet that came with the CD release of this set, so I’ll throw it in for more fun and learning.

(Normally I don’t set a reserve for LP auctions, but I have to set a modest one for these treasures.)

Volume One, Ballads, 1952 Pressing:

·       Vinyl is VG++, thick and shiny vinyl with a few scuffs, nothing deep

Cover is VG++, super clean with a couple of minor dings

Volume Two, Social Music, 1958 Pressing:

·       Vinyl is VG+, some marks on record 1, record 2 looks great

·       Cover is VG++, same condition as vol. 1

Volume Three, Songs, 1958 Pressing:

·       Vinyl is VG++, thick and shiny vinyl with a couple light marks

·       Cover is VG++, same as previous two

Volume Four (compiled by Smith, but not released by Folkways in the 50’s. Released in 2000 by Revenant in deluxe tri-gatefold packaging with large booklet on clear vinyl):

·       Vinyl is NM, totally unmarked

Cover is VG++, so nice

Lots of LPs from my personal collection up this week, so please check my other auctions!
LPs shipped the day after payment is received. Shipping for multiple wins are combined to save postage fees.
I ship internationally, but only Priority (which features package tracking) for this auction--it's expensive, but the safest. Rates are close those stated in the auction details--International bidders always pay exact shipping cost.
