Description

This is the 1973 "ANGEL'S EGG" UK LP by GONG.

It is an original version issued in 1973 on the VIRGIN label, number V2007.

This LP  was the second in Gong's Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy of albums, following the "Flying Teapot" album and preceding their "YOU" album.

This edition came with a booklet containing an extensive explanation of the mythology, including lyrics, a glossary of terms, and profiles of characters in the story and band members.

This edition also had a gatefold cover (omitted in later pressings), and a plain inky blue innersleeve to match the gatefold and booklet.

This copy has the original black and white Virgin label that was discontinued after 1973.  It was one of the last albums to use the original label.

This is the uncensored cover - later copies had a sticker over the top of the female nude in the moon on the cover.

It is an early UK 1st press which was purchased in 1973, and has the following matrix numbers:

  • Side 1:  V 2007 A - 2U
  • Side 2:  V 2007 B - 3U

Record is EX+, nice sheen, the vinyl and record label are completely unmarked, with the exception of a tiny thin mark between the end of track 1 and the beginning of track 2 on side 2.

This can be heard as a short click in the few seconds where track 1 leads into track 2, otherwise it plays very well, aside from slight background noise in some of the quieter moments.

Other than that, there are no noticeable spindle marks and the LP looks like new.

The cover is a non-laminate gatefold and is EX, and has minimal handling wear only, apart from a mark in the top right front corner where a sticker was removed, but this is not very noticeable on the white background.

The original booklet is included in the sale and is 12 pages and is EX+, and has just a crease on the front cover (see picture), otherwise in excellent condition.

The record will be packed in a stiff package specifically designed for sending vinyl throught the post, with added protection on the corners.
