NOTES:  Absolutely pristine stunning copy of this extremely rare 1949 release.   Sound Portraits Collector’s Series: First Folio.  (This is the SAME LABEL that released the Moondog 1951 acetate that recently sold for $4,500.)   This release is double VINYL (not shellac!) 78 rpm records that appear to be black, but under a bright light are OPAQUE DARK RED COLORED vinyl with a few swirls.  A couple very slight surface marks but I’d still grade it a visual M-.   

This release is Anais Nin reading from her book House of Incest on one disc, and from Child Born Out of the Fog and Rag Time on the other disc.  Features Louis and Bebe Barron of Forbidden Planet fame (WHO WERE ALSO ON THE MOONDOG ACETATE), and “Drumming and Chanting by Josephine Premice”.   Deep groove labels on all four sides.  Covers are actually single one-sided pieces of heavy paper.  Back piece is very close to M-, very minor browning on edges otherwise M-.  Backs of both pieces have browning on edges and minor indentations from the vinyl that you CANNOT see on the front artwork.  Fantastic artwork is by Ian Hugo.  Wrote his wife Nin on the back liner notes: “The cover is by Ian Hugo, well known engraver, who illustrated all my books first printed on our own press…”.  Cover appears to be an engraving.  Hugo had large copper panels that were used to print his engravings.  Comes in what appears to be the original thick gatefold plastic outer sleeve, I imagine the reason both pieces of artwork are M- is that this is the original outer plastic, which has browning on edges and some splitting on the seams of the plastic due to being over 60 years old. 

This would be a phenomenal rare addition to any record collection.
