AMERICAN BLUES “Do Their Thing” TOP! 1969 Psych Rock lp ZZ TOP!!
1969/USA/Uni Records 73044….. here’s a nice original pressing of their rare second lp. The cover has light shelf wear and light corner wear, there is a delete hole lower right corner, there is wear on the lower seam and a 2" center split, the back has heavy foxing/aging/staining, otherwise the cover is fine. The vinyl is in glossy strong VG++ condition with a few light hairline scuffs and some light blemishes on the trail out. The record plays clean with little noise and clean fidelity. The labels are clean with no spindle marks. A decent copy of this rare lp! Please check my auctions for other psych, garage and rock lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

Self-produced, the collection found the band opting for a major change in direction. Written by the Hills, material such as the lead-off "You Were So Close To Me", "Captain Fire" and "Just Plain Jane" found the band attempting to capitalize on San Francisco-styled psychedelics. Elsewhere, the collection found the group mining a more conventional rock format; "Wonder Man" and "Shady" reflecting a distinctive Cream-influence, while the blazing "Comin' Back Home" (complete with Beard and Rocky Hill meltdown solos) offered up a nice Hendrix imitation. Sure, it was largely derivative, but that didn't lessen the enjoyment factor. A commercial failure, Uni promptly dropped the band. (On a personal note, we've always wondered about the discrepancy between the front and back covers showing a trio and the liner notes listing four members.) Beard promptly left to join the newly formed ZZ Top, quickly recruiting Dusty as bassist.

GRADING
MINT: I consider only New Unplayed or Sealed items.
M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.
EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have a few minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.
VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
