Description
This is a very good original U.S. pressing copy of the debut LP by garage/psychedelic/hard rock group the Amboy Dukes, released in late 1967. The group was based in Detroit, and is best remembered today for having Ted Nugent on lead guitar. Their debut features their first single, a sonic mugging of "Baby Please Don't Go" with extended guitar freakouts by Nugent that was later included on the 1972 Nuggets comp. Most other tracks on the LP are originals co-credited to Nugent and guitarist Steve Farmer, but besides the single, the group also covers Cream's "I Feel Free," the Who's "It's Not True," and the Ashford-Simpson penned "Let's Go Get Stoned" (first recorded, per Discogs, by Manfred Mann). The jacket is in fine overall condition with ring wear and staining on the back cover, a name stamped in black ink on the back cover (see photo), a little splitting in the top seam, and light wear in the bottom corners and along the bottom seam (EX-). Side 1 of the disc has some hairline scraping and scuffing/loss of glossiness, and plays with some light surface noise. Side 2 has more of these imperfections, and plays with light to sometimes moderate surface noise and a little popping. Overall VG+. A previous owner’s initials are written in black marker on the side 2 label (see photo).
I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
