Grey Label Stereo Original 1st US press 1968 LABEL / LABELCODE MATRIX NUMBERS EXTRAS GRADING Mainstream 6112 6112 KY556 Unlaminated Single Cover EX+/M- DESCRIPTION The Amboy Dukes is a band from Detroit, Michigan. The name came from lead guitarist Ted Nugent, who had heard of a Detroit band called Amboy Dukes that had just broken up, took the name for a new band he was forming (originally the name was the title of a novel about gang members).
This is the first album and it was released in 1968 on Mainstream Records. It achieved national success which reached #16 in 1968. The single of the same name rose to number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop chart. The album and song were classic and wonderful examples of acid rock; for example, the original album cover depicted fifty different kinds of marijuana-smoking devices. The band achieved notoriety for their constant touring and Nugent's wild, frantic guitar playing. CONDITIONS RECORD: Visually both sides are deep shiney black and has all of its original gloss, seen in critical 100W light! Both sides are in EXCELLENT+ condition with only small amount of tiny hair line marks from being removed from the inner sleeve and a few non-audible scuffs. Both sides of this great album play without almost any clicks, pops or crackles. No scratches. The sound quality is full and unworn. LABELS: Both labels without any spindle marks in NEAR MINT (M-) condition! COVER: Matt laminated gatefold cover in pristine conditon!!! Rare in this condition! No tape. No splits. No writings, no stamps, no stickers. No edge and spine wear! No ring wear! The unlaminated rear is white and unmarked! Only a little wear on the top seam and slight corner crease bottom left, that's all! This wonderful cover must be grade as NEAR MINT (M-)! SUMMARY A psych rock masterpiece!!!!!!!
