Recorded live on April 30, 1967 at the Hamburgische Staatsoper, Hamburg, Germany.

In autumn 1966 Gunther Schuller's opera "The Visitation" was premiered at the state opera of Hamburg.
The line-up included several Jazz musicians which were later invited for a concert.
It was recorded and released as "Jazz At The Opera".     ALL GRADINGS ARE BASED ON THOROUGH VISUAL INSPECTION AND A FULL AUDITION

 

RECORD

Rare original 1967 german stereo pressing with European Deep Groove on both super clean labels

Wearless spindle hole

Thick, heavy vinyl retaining its nice original sheen

Visual grade

Side A: NEAR MINT-: the playing surface shows some, extremely light, thin, unfeelable hairline scuffs. NO marks, NO scratches, NO wear

Side B: EXCELLENT-: various small, light and thin sleeve scuffs / marks. NO scratches, NO wear

Audio grade

Side A: VERY VERY CLOSE to MINT

Plays absolutely great with NO blemishes of any kind ! With NO tics, NO clicks, NO skips and with NO surface or background noise, especially in the quieter passage too !

Side B

1st track: NEAR MINT- : just a couple of tics softly feelable to the end

2nd track: VERY GOOD: continous tickin' (1 min,35 secs), caused by the flaw noted above during my visual inspection

3rd track: NEAR MINT: plays with NO noticeable blemishes of any kind !

4th track: VERY GOOD+: two episodes of background rustln / tickin', feelable in the first part of the track, for a total time of 55 secs

Superb stereo sound !

This record comes in the original company paper inner sleeve

Cleaned with CLEAR AUDIO VACUUM MATRIX using its PURE GROOVE professional solution

 

COVER : NEAR MINT (STRONG)

Original thin, fully laminated jacket in fine condition and graded as such only because of:

  •  a couple of minuscule, extremely light hints of laminate lifting on front, near a sligtly bumped top left corner

Anyway the front side retains its stricking original shape and is not affected in its beauty and integrity whatsoever

The edges are tight

The bottom left and right corners are sharp

The seams and spine are intact with NO wear 

With NO noticeable ring-wear, NO seams splits, NO tears, NO writings, NO stamps, NO holes, NO stains

Back side nearly wearless with beautiful lamination !
