ALICE COOPER
SCHOOL'S OUT
RELEASED BY WARNER BROS. RECORDS, 1972 BS 2623
School's Out, released in 1972 was the fifth studio album by Alice Cooper. The album's title track has
remained a staple song in Alice Cooper's live setlist and receives regular airplay on many "Classic Rock" radio stations.
The original album cover, designed by Craig Braun, had the sleeve opening in the manner of an old school desk.
The vinyl record inside was wrapped in a pair of girl's panties, though this was later discontinued as the panties
were found to be flammable. The actual desk is on display in the Hard Rock Cafe in Berlin.
School's Out reached #2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and #1 on the Canadian Canadian RPM Top Albums chart,
holding the top position for four weeks. The single "School's Out" reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100,
#3 on the Canadian RPM Top Singles Chart and went all the way to #1 in the UK Singles Chart.
Original Die-cut School Desk Package
with Paper Panties, Signed by the Designer
The panties are signed by Grammy Award winning designer Craig Braun (of Wilkes & Braun, Inc.)
Craig was responsible for the design of the 1970 Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers" album and the iconic "Licks" logo.
He later formed a partnership with Tom Wilkes and produced this famous fold-out school desk package for Alice Cooper's
"School's Out" with paper panties around the record, Led Zeppelin "III" with the spinning picture wheel and the
1973 Grammy Award winning "TOMMY with the London Symphony Orchestra" boxed set.
CONDITION
Unsealed design sample from Craig's personal collection.
Sleeve is excellent, panties are intact, just a bit of wear at side edges, vinyl has some marks like being handled,
not played, no spindle marks. This was a sample for design and printing so it was probably
just opened and shown. It has been in storage for years. (see all photos)
