UK WARNER BROTHERS (K 56005) FIRST PRESSING (November 1971) OF ALICE COOPER'S ICONIC "Killer" LP - DEEPLY TRASHY, VERY LOUD AND UTTERLY WONDERFUL
THIS COPY, ALTHOUGH WELL PLAYED, HAS BEEN VERY WELL CARED FOR AND IT DELIVERS TREMENDOUSLY POWERFUL AND VERY CLEAN AUDIO AND AS ONE OF THE VERY FIRST PRESSINGS IT STILL RETAINS THE GATEFOLD CALENDAR FOR 1972 WITH THE TASTEFUL PICTURE OF A BLOOD-SPLATTERED ALICE HANGING BY HIS NECK

THE LP HAS THE FIRST ISSUE GREEN WARNER BROTHERS LABELS (with no "Made in UK" text - this was added sometime between July and October 1972 and is present on later labels even those with an A1/B1 matrix)
FIRST PRESS MATRIX: K 56005 A1 / K 56005 B1
AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATTE SLEEVE WHICH HAS A LIGHTLY TEXTURED FEEL, PRINTED BY “Shorewood Packaging Co. Ltd., England”. THE SLEEVE HAS A PERFORATED FRONT OPENING SECTION WHERE THE CALENDAR WAS ORIGINAL ATTACHED (UNFORTUNATELY NOW SEPARATED BUT PRESENT AND IN CLEAN, UNMARKED AND UNMOUNTED CONDITION)

Alice Cooper wasted little time following up the breakthrough success of Love It to Death with another album released the same year, Killer. Again, producer Bob Ezrin was on board and helps the group solidify their heavy rock (yet wide-ranging) style even further.
The band's stage show dealt with the macabre, and such disturbing tracks as "Dead Babies" and the title track fit in perfectly.
Other songs were even more exceptional, such as the perennial barnstorming concert standard "Under My Wheels," the melodic yet gritty "Be My Lover," and the tribute to their fallen friend Jim Morrison, "Desperado."
The long and winding "Halo of Flies" hinted that the band would be tackling more complex song structures on future albums, while "You Drive Me Nervous" and "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" showed that Alice Cooper hadn't completely abandoned their early garage rock direction.
With Killer, they became one of the world's top rock bands and concert attractions; it rewarded them as being among the most notorious and misunderstood entertainers, thoroughly despised by parents

LABELS: The labels are clean, bright and unmarked but the spindle wear indicates this copy has been well played. It has however, also been extremely well cared for - the vinyl surfaces are unmarked and the audio is sensational
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its original deep, glossy sheen and is unmarked - the surfaces appear practically like-new
VINYL Audio: Outstanding audio quality throughout. Incredibly sharp, fresh, strong and vibrant sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing) it sounds absolutely stunning. There are no scratches, no sticks or jumps, no clicks/pops and only the lightest touch of surface noise between some (not all) of the tracks (very minor and unobtrusive). The sound quality is really sensational and the LP plays to an extremely high standard with all frequencies bright and clear (and loud) and there is no discernible groove-wear or distortion. Critically graded as EXCELLENT++ for audio - this is a really great sounding copy
SLEEVE: The first issue cover is critically graded as a very strong VERY GOOD++ as there is a little rubbing to the front surface (none to the back) and a crease to the bottom corner. It is however, good and solid with only a little wear to the top and bottom edges and all spine text is still clear and bold
CALENDAR: The gatefold calendar (although detached) is in EXCELLENT condition - clean, sharp and fresh with no marks, wear or writing and no evidence of ever being up on somebody's wall
