I was recently lucky enough to come across a folio of original artwork, posters and proofs of work by the influential science-fiction / rock music artist Joseph (Joe) Petagno III (b1948) which I started listing last week. Here are some printed examples.

Joe is perhaps best known for his association with the Heavy Metal band Motorhead. He designed their famous horned helmet used on many of their album covers. He is also a prolific sci-fi & horror comic artist. His work with the legendary graphic design company Hipgnosis has meant that Joe had a hand in creating some of the iconic LP sleeves of the 1970's / 1980's (including Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd) as well as much publicity material for the record label Vertigo. The recent book 'Orgasmatron - The Heavy Metal Art of Joe Petagno' with foreword by Lemmy is a useful archive of his Hipgnosis work and more recent painting in his now home country Denmark.

This is a very rare quintuple proof print of the famous Billion Dollar Bill designed by Petagno which was included in the packaging for the 1973 Alice Cooper LP 'Billion Dollar Babies'.

Approx 22.5 x 54 inches and in very good condition. All the posters I am selling are rolled and I will despatch in a sturdy tube which cost me £2.00 each so postage is a little higher than I normally charge but still less than cost !

All the Petagno items I am listing came from the collection of the artist himself.
