ALEXIS KORNER'S BLUES INCORPORATED
"R&B FROM THE MARQUEE"

ORIGINAL PRESSING album on ACE of CLUBS RECORDS ACL 1130 from vintage 1962
  in MONO.
 
 
Adept playing and singing here, from the London-based bluesmen who really knew their art!
Actually the knowledge was of the original BLUES from America, that was coming out of the Delta, added with a little jazz sensibility and embellished with a touch of brass!
The cover here speaks volumes in showing the lads close-in, delivering a passionate live performance before an audience in the early 1960's.
Three men of varying ages, from varied backgrounds - Alexis from a Greek father and Austrian mother, raised in mainland Europe and N. Africa. Cyril Davies from the USA, and young Dick Heckstall-Smith from Ludlow, in the UK, as well as 'Long' John Baldry of the UK.
This album is considered 'the first British blues album' to have been issued, and it was coming out in a period when there was a growing swell of enthusiasm for original American negro blues, with kids scouring the import stores for rare vinyl issues coming in from The USA.
This album kick-started and gave strong credibility to this new thriving scene - placing a first milestone on the British 'map' for others like The Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Graham Bond Organization and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers to follow.
Truly a LANDMARK DISC, which I am proud to present here for auction in top shape!!


The heavy vinyl is in EX+ condition, with GREAT SHINE and VERY well preserved.
PLAYING QUALITY is really wonderful, EXCELLENT clarity from the solid 'Deep Groove' pressing vinyl platter. It's very clear and clean.
The matt maroon and silver-text lables are lovely, no tears stickers or pen, just spindle-marks visible around the centre-hole.
This single-sleeve LAMINATED COVER has light wear, clean rear paper showing only slight aging, and grades VG++. 'L4' in red pen at top left of rear, and stain from selotape removed from lower seam (not split, but must have separated from the tab at one time, and now been re-attached).
This has had a re-issue - one that has sold rather well.
