HE WAS, of course, the master performer of the era. A front man like no other and a lyricist of incredible perception. I saw SAHB a couple of times during their heyday and the show was mindblowing - a theatrical extravaganza with Alex assuming a number of personalities and guises all seemingly better and more outrageous than anything else on the scene.
This album captures Alex and the band in the perfect enviroment; live, on stage. This is the place where Alex ruled the world and stoked the imagination of his audience, whipping them up into a frenzy of respect and devotion. Stalking the boards like a demented Sgt Major, Alex comanded the crowd with the efficiency of a one man army. Of course, one should never forget the role of the band - a glorious pumping engine of brutal riffing, delicate arrangements and progressive twists and turns.
Contains arguably the definitive SAHB track and one that has gone on to achieve special status amongst afficianados of the band, namely 'The Faith Healer' a track so big, bold and barking mad that it stills gives me goosebumps every time I hear that marvellou throbbing introduction. Also present and correct is the splendidly decadent 'Tomahawk Kid', 'Vambo', Give My Compliments To The Chef' and 'Framed'. Natch, there's also an airring of 'Delilah', a UK hit single no less.
Oh how we loved him. Alex was the leader of our gang. Vambo rooled my world and everytime I think of him, his passing seems that much harder to bare. If you have this album already then I salute you. If you don't then please take my advice and kit yourself out today....
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.

Vinyl: Nice clean and shiny condition. No spindle marks on labels and virtually no other signs of use. Grades as almost shop fresh MINT-!
Cover: Again. no signs of any use. Issued in a beautiful fully laminated cover - retains full gloss. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no creases and no split seams. Spine is straight and stiff. Grades as top almost shop fresh MINT-!
